Thinking of Erica

'Erica regia, Kirstenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa' photo (c) 2008, Derek Keats - license: the last couple of days I've been thinking of Erica a lot. It's been a year and five months since she passed away and I don't want to forget the last time I saw her. I want to keep that memory of her smile alive. She was laughing and having a good time and I wish I would have taken some pictures. My metal pictures have a tendency to fade and so I have to actively picture my sister to keep her memory fresh in my mind. That's the funny thing about time, it can help you heal but it also causes things to be lost. I will continue thinking of Erica so time does not steal the memories I cherish.

  1. It is also less than two months until her birthday -- as other people celebrate their birthdays I always think of how Erica enjoyed her last birthday 10-10-10 and yet grieve over the fact that it was her last. Precious memories keep me going -- but missing her is such a struggle.

  2. Andrea,

I am so sad to hear about your sister. I understand how you want to keep her memories alive. After my mother passed away, which was 10 years ago I could clearly hear her voice in my head. Now, over time it has faded. Your sister Erica will always be in your heart!
